After the event I did a little reading up on Street View and it turns out that it’s not only a very interesting tool, but there’s also a lot more to it than you might think.
At it’s simplest level, the car is a big old camera, driving around taking a photo every 10-20 metres. The camera itself is actually nine cameras pointing in a variety of directions taking a 360° photo horizontally, and 290° vertically. Attached to this are some GPS units for positioning the images on the map correctly and three SICK laser range finders.

Die viele Leute schützen ihr WLAN nicht mit Schlüssel und Passwort (über den Browser und IP-Adresse ähnlich 192.168.1.1 am Router einstellbar). Nicht nur Google kann so mit ihren Daten ins Internet, sonderen jeder der draußen vorbeigeht. Dies könnte in der Tat zu Problemen führen.
